Biographical Sketch

Dr. C. B. Akins, Sr., is a native of
Carrier Mills High School, Carrier Mills, IL, Graduated 1968; Defense Language Institute, Czechoslvakian Dept., Monterey, Graduated 1971; University of Maryland, German Department, Rimbach, Germany 1972; Draughon’s Business College, Paducah, KY, Graduated 1976; Paducah Community College, Paducah, KY, Graduated 1978; University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, 1993; BASW with honors Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY, 1996; Master of Divinity Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY, 2001; Doctor of Ministry Simmons Bible College, Louisville, KY, 1998; Honorary Dr. Of Divinity Dr. Akins has studied 8 languages, including, Czechoslovakian, Russian, Chinese Mandarin, German, French, Greek, Hebrew, and Latin.
Dr. Akins served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973 as a multi-lingual interpreter and was honorably discharged. From 1973 to 1980 Dr. Akins taught foreign languages in the Military Intelligence Division of the US Army Reserves.
Dr. Akins was raised in church by a praying mother. He gave his life to Christ in February, 1974. He was licensed to preach in 1977 and ordained in 1980. From 1980-1983 Dr. Akins served as pastor of Carneal Chapel MBC in
Dr. Akins was a presenter for the 2005 Community Policing Consortium sponsored by the US Dept of Justice in
Dr. Akins is an in-demand preacher/speaker for revivals and conferences across the nation.

Ernie Fletcher to serve as a board member to the Kentucky Board of Education (Present— 2010); Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Simmons College of Kentucky; 1st Vice Moderator, General Association of Baptist in Kentucky; Vice Chair Kentucky Board of Education; member Board of Trustees Midway College.
