Roszalyn M. Akins, the former Roszalyn Mack and known to all as "Rosz",  is the wife of Rev. Dr. C. B. Akins, Sr., pastor of First Baptist Church Bracktown.  She is mother to one son, Clyde B. Akins, Jr. and one daughter, CeKesha Bene' Akins. 

Roszalyn is a graduate of Bryan Station Senior High School, Lexington, KY.She received  a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Transylvania University, Lexington, KY and a Master of Arts Degree at Georgetown College, Georgetown, KY.  Her majors were Education & History.

Roszalyn has served as an educator in the Fayette County School for over 30 years as a teacher at Leestown Middle School and Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.  She has also served as the Dean of Students at Leestown Middle School and Carter G. Woodson Academy.

Roszalyn is a member of First Baptist Church Bracktown and presently serves as the director of Family Life Ministries, Sunday School Teacher, Director of the Women's Ministry, mentor to minister's wives, and Associate Minister.

She has served in various leadership capacities for the Consolidated District Association of Baptist Churches as she presently serves as a President Council Member.  She formerly served as Youth Director, Vice President of the Women's Auxiliary, President of the Women's Auxiliary, and Executive Board Member.

Roszalyn was selected by the Department of Education to write a curriculum guide for the Department of Education for the State of Kentucky in Nigeria, Africa.  She was listed in "Who's Who" among Outstanding Women in America, nominated for Outstanding Young Women in Lexington by the Lexington's Women's Club, and selected Middle School Teacher of the Year by the Fayette County Public School System.  Recently, Roszalyn received the Social Entrepreneur Award from the Lexington Leadership Foundation.  The foundation defines this recipient as "a social entrepreneur is the driven, creative individual who questions the status quo, exploits new opportunities, refuses to give up, and remakes the world for better". 

She is an in-demand speaker for Women's Conferences in-state and out-of-state.She served as Chairperson for the Ann Graham Lotz's Angel Ministries Revival held in Lexington, KY in April 2003, co-organizer of the Lexington Women "Firekeepers", and is well known for her organizing and planning abilities for four dynamic and inspirational  Christian Women Retreats held in Lexington, KY, Bowling Green, KY, Louisville, KY, Pigeon Forge, TN with over 2,000 women from across North America in attendance.  She

presently serves as the co-coordinator of the General Association of Kentucky Baptists Sister 2 Sister Conference.

Roszalyn retired in 2004 after completing 27 years of teaching. Her retirement was short-lived and after 8 months was called back into the school system as a consultant for Leestown Middle School.  In 2005 Rosz initiated the start of an academy for black males entitled "Future BMW" (Black Males Working) in an all out effort to improve the life of African American males.  At the present time the BMW Academy has 3 sites and serves over 250 young men in grades 2 through 12.As a result of this academy, Georgetown College, Murray State University, and the University of Kentucky have partnered in this effort by offering full scholarships to any male that completes the academy successfully. The mission of the BMW program is to educate, motivate and activate the potential for excellence that lies within every African American male.  

Because of the great success of the BMW Academy, the Fayette County Public School System opened the first all male college prep school for boys called Carter G. Woodson Academy.  This innovative program was started in 2012 with grades 6 through 9 and will be adding a grade level every year until the school reaches grades 6 through 12. 

 Roszalyn continually strives to live by her motto " If heaven is pleased, it doesn't matter who's displeased".
